Market context

LGD Gaming and Team Liquid face off in the BLAST Slam Playoffs lower bracket quarterfinal on 5 June, with the winner advancing and the loser eliminated. The best-of-three match is scheduled for 8:30AM ET, giving a narrow window before the settlement deadline at 18:00 the same day. The 100% implied probability reflects either exceptional confidence in match completion or minimal liquidity, as operational risks remain material given the tight timing between match conclusion and market close.

LGD has historically dominated Dota 2's competitive landscape, particularly in Chinese regional play, though their international form has fluctuated across recent seasons. Team Liquid's roster changes and inconsistent results in 2024-2025 have weakened their standing relative to their historical strength. Head-to-head records favour LGD in recent encounters, though both teams' form trajectories matter more than historical records in lower bracket elimination matches where desperation shifts tactical approaches.

Key dependencies for settlement centre on match completion within the seven-day window and absence of technical disruptions. BLAST Slam's infrastructure has generally been reliable, but traders should monitor for last-minute roster confirmations or player availability issues in the 48 hours preceding the match. Any announcement of substitutions or format changes would alter the competitive balance materially. The tight settlement window creates execution risk: if the match runs long or faces unexpected delays, resolution could default to 50-50 even with a clear winner determined.

FAQ

Are prediction markets better than sports betting?
Prediction markets tend toward tighter odds than bookmakers because they use peer-to-peer exchange rather than bookmaker margin. On major matches, Polymarket quotes typically sit 2-5% closer to the true probability model than bet365 or DraftKings.
When do sports markets resolve?
Typically within hours of the official final whistle. Polymarket uses UMA Optimistic Oracle with source URLs pointing at official league data feeds — e.g. the Premier League for EPL markets, UEFA for Champions League, FIFA for World Cup.
What are live sports odds on Polymarket?
Some top-tier matches stay open during play — you can trade the half-time probability in the 70th minute. Polymarket mid-prices update second-by-second; any frontend mirroring the order book shows the same movement.
Which sports markets are available?
Football (soccer) dominates — Champions League, World Cup, Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga — followed by NFL, NBA, tennis Grand Slams, Formula 1, boxing/MMA. Resolution via official league source confirmation.
What's the difference between match odds and outright odds?
Match odds cover a single game ("Bayern beats BVB"). Outright odds are long-term aggregates ("Bayern wins the league"). Outright markets have deeper liquidity; match markets have faster resolution.
